Description
About
Electrs is an efficient reimplementation of an Electrum server, written in Rust. It indexes the Bitcoin blockchain and answers the Electrum protocol, so a wallet can read balances, transaction history and UTXOs without talking to a third-party server, and without handing its addresses to anyone else.
This package runs electrs on Cloudron, compiled from source and shipped on a hardened runtime image.
What it needs
Electrs is an index, not a node. It reads blocks from a Bitcoin Core node that you already run, so this app is only useful alongside one:
- the Cloudron Bitcoin Core app on the same box, or
- any Bitcoin Core node reachable over JSON-RPC.
That node must be a full (non-pruned) node with the REST interface enabled. Electrs refuses to start against a pruned node, and it fetches blocks over the node's REST API. The packaged Bitcoin Core app is pruned by default, so wiring the two together means two edits to the node's bitcoin.conf. The README's "Wiring it to the Cloudron Bitcoin Core app" section walks through it.
What you get
- The Electrum protocol on the port you expose at install time (suggested host port 10001; electrs listens on 50001 inside the container), for Electrum, Sparrow, BlueWallet and other Electrum clients
- Prometheus metrics on the app's own URL
- An operator config file at
/app/data/electrs.tomlthat survives app updates - A multi-stage build with the compiler toolchain purged from the runtime image, and a Trivy HIGH/CRITICAL gate on every release
